Junior parkrun is a series of 2km events for children aged between 4 and 14. They are held in areas of open space around the UK. They are open to all, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.

Dudley now has its very own junior parkrun, Stevens junior parkrun which will run every Sunday at 9am. The address for Dudley’s junior parkrun is Stevens Park, Wollescote, Stourbridge, Dudley DY9 7JG (please note, this is NOT Mary Stevens Park in Stourbridge and make sure that you are on Wollescote Road as sometimes the sat-nav can bring you out into the nearby housing estate!)

There are various incentives for children who run a junior parkrun regularly. In order to take part and access these, children will need to register first and print a barcode. You will need this barcode at each event. This can be found at:

www.parkrun.org.uk/register/form

or have a look at Stevens junior parkrun's own webpage at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/stevenspark-juniors/

Some children from Roberts Primary School were very fortunate to take part in the trial for this and the 1st few junior parkrun events (coming in quite high places as well!) held at the park held over the last few weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it.

If you yourself are interesting in running, try parkrun - a weekly, 5km timed run around the world (or closer to us at the Dell Stadium in Dudley, West Park in Wolverhampton or Sandwell Valley Park!) They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in – children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult. See www.parkrun.org.uk for more details.

Don’t forget to register and bring your barcode.
